Projects

We are proud to support the Bulwell & Cinderhill Men's Shed. It's a place for practical projects, learning skills, & making things. They meet every Tuesday at Basford Hall Miners' Welfare, NG6 8PT from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

We run a free community dog walking group. The group meets every Wednesday at 1pm at Bulwell Hall car park (NG6 8GG). To let us know if you're planning to come along, contact Charlotte on 07726 768759 or communitydogwalk@yahoo.com.

The Bulwell Stories project began in 2019. Working with visual artist, Hannah Sawtell and poet, Leanne Moden, participants from two Nottingham City Homes independent living schemes had fun with printmaking, collage and poetry while capturing memories of Bulwell and how life has changed over the years. The project culminated in a new exhibition at Bulwell Riverside which launched on 1st March 2019.

In 2019 and 2020, we engaged with the local community in Bulwell to gather interest for a 3 year Heritage Fund project which will discover and explore the fascinating history of Bulwell.

Sadly the full bid was unsucessful, but we had a wonderful time hearing people's stories about Bulwell's history.

We were are proud to support Bulwell Arts Festival for a number of years, celebrating the people, local landscape and community of Bulwell. 

This annual festival is now supported by One Vision Partnership.

Our Lung Health MOT check launched in Bulwell in January 2017. Patients in five Bulwell practices aged between 60 and 75 with a history of smoking were invited to attend a lung health check appointment by their GP. Bill, a Bulwell resident, was found to have early stage cancer says ‘If I hadn’t have gone for that scan, I could have been dead within a year’. The scheme has now been rolled out to parts of Aspley and Strelley, with a further nine GP practices taking part. In February 2019, NHS England announced a multimillion pound investment to roll out a similar scheme across the country.

Celebrating local creativity in an annual arts festival, with exhibitions, workshops and performances in the first week of July. A host of community groups, schools and local artists get involved each year. 

Rebalancing has previously partnered with Teeth Team, a Hull based charity, to offer an oral health initiative in Nottingham North’s primary schools.

The initiative teaches primary school age children about oral health care and links local dental practices with primary schools. Through this approach children are able to receive dental checks and fluoride applications at school

ThinkForward runs coaching programmes nationwide, including in Nottingham schools. Their programmes aim to support young people who are at high risk of unemployment to progress into sustained work.
